Make Boys Cry is a pianist, composer and producer who lives and works in Leipzig and Berlin. Her first album "Glass Cannon", which will be released via Audiolith on 18th December 2020, explores different aspects of neo-classical music: the productions combine minimalist piano playing with electronic soundscapes in the style of Nils Frahm, or develop a cinematic opulence reminiscent of Yann Tiersen. The polyphonic pianos that Make Boys Cry uses virtuously on the album give the music a three-dimensional effect and create a fantastic narrative.
The main theme of the album, which is also reflected in the title, is the contrast between softness and hardness, harmonic unity and musical fragility. The first single "Skip Me" (1st December) explores these contrasts with a threatening field of strings and trumpets, structured by a piano that is both compelling and fluid. Melancholy and dominance are combined in her style of playing and in the instrumentation. The accompanying music video, with its interplay of industrial production processes versus confusingly clashing bodies, opens up a whole new perspective on the piece and already reveals that Make Boys Cry is more than just music - she is a total work of art.
